Dear Comic Con/FanX,
It’s been five years now. Crazy, isn’t it? If we’re being honest, it’s more like six years, but it was because you had to take a break last year due to the global pandemic. I don’t blame you.
I’ve had some incredible experiences while visiting Comic Con–more specifically FanX Salt Lake. We don’t have to talk about that whole legal debacle with San Diego.
I got to meet some amazing voice actors like Dante Basco and John DiMaggio. I got to sit in on some panels including talented writers that helped me hone my craft. I’ve got to enjoy art and trinkets from creators across the world. And it’s all been within the hallowed halls of a crowded convention center.
Most importantly, I got to enjoy these experiences with some of my closest friends. Going around and enjoying the nerdy atmosphere is great, but when it’s with some of your closest homies that enjoy all that stuff with you, it’s ten times better. I love these goons and I’m grateful for every year I’ve gotten to go with them.
So I don’t know what I was leading up to here, but I guess I just wanted to say I’m grateful. I’m grateful there’s a place for us nerds to let our flags fly and celebrate the stories that touch our hearts. Here’s to millions of more conventions around the world.
Love, Aaron
